Guidelines in Completing the Course

Please take your time in reading each module; take an initial brief read and then a second and perhaps a third deeper read.

I suggest you print the pdf module to make notes along the way and create a folder with divisions for each section. Please note that the content from the online learning platform may vary from the pdf version. Always refer to both!

Mini quizzes, videos and external links will be shown within the online platform; you will not find those in the pdf versions. Also, to note, it is quicker for me to make mini-updates to the platform; I endeavour to update the pdfs once a year.

Have a separate piece of paper for any questions you have. You may find that after a couple of times reading the module, you may be able to answer your own questions. Remember, I am here for support, so please feel free to email me.

When it comes time to tackle the assignment questions, refer back to the text and jot down a few possible solutions before finally deciding on the correct answer. Please do not copy and paste text; I want to see that you have fully grasped the content; therefore, use your own words. Be inquisitive and do additional research, this is super helpful to get a more-rounded grasp on the subject, as we are not walking encyclopaedias, we need to know where to look for information, how to extract and document. There will be questions that will force you to research ????

Within the learning outcome stated for each module, there are suggested self-study learning hours and one-to-one Zoom calls during the module before the completion of the assignment and one after. The call after the assignment will also incorporate an oral assessment.

I use CalendlyApp to schedule calls, so please use this link to set a time convenient to you. https://calendly.com/pursertrainer/one2onecall

If working on board a yacht, consider how the information you are reading parallels to your current position.

At the end of each module, think about the most valuable thing you have learned. How will you change or implement the information given?

Thank you for taking the time to complete this training. I hope you find it informative, helpful and above all enjoyable!
